39 Hour Vigil for the Angola 3

Join us at the RAE Building, 1212 St Bernard Avenue, for a 39 hour vigil to commemorate the 39th anniversary of the Angola 3 being held in solitary confinement. Our program includes a many exciting events, including movies, artworks, panel discussions, workshops, a candle light vigil, book signings by Robert King, the only free member of the Angola 3, musical performances and more.

The vigil begins at 7:30am April 17th, the time of death of Brent Miller, the freeman that Herman and Albert were accused of killing, and lasts until 10:30pm the following day.

In solidarity with Herman and Albert who remain in lockdown we invite 39 people to spend an hour each in a 6x9 foot cell. Community members, students, lawyers, musicians and local celebrities have all committed an hour each. Call Parnell Herbert to book your hour 832-494-4027 or email parnell@angola3action.org

    17 FEBRUARY Update:

Albert Woodfox print by Emory Douglas

    Justuce Delayed is Justice Denied
On February 17th, 2011 Judge Brady ruled in Ablert Woodfox's favor, granting him an evidentiary hearing on the issue of discrimination in the selection of the Grand Jury foreperson. The presumption that discrimination occurred is now technically in Albert's favor and this hearing will be the State's chance to rebut it. The hearing is tentatively scheduled for September 12th, 2011. Support Albert by attending the hearing and let the courts know that we are watching and we stand for justice.

Please note Albert's mailing address since being moved from Angola to Wade Prison in north-east Louisiana in November 2010:
